Sythetic Foods

Forum: Dark Universe - Synthetic foods, often referred to as synths, are manufactured by the breaking down of certain plant and/or animal proteins, carbohydrates, and other digestable and healthful substances, to produce an economical food source which is easily stored for long journeys, and requires a minimum amount of energy to prepare for eating.

Most are not known for their tastiness, but they will keep a person from starving to death. In the words of many, they are 'an acquired taste' to say the least.

Synth rations are the second generation of foods made for long term storage, a rather generic revision of the first generation, MREs.

MREs are still readily available throughout the known universe's human occupied sectors, but somewhat more expensive. However, many consider them worth the cost, especially when one considers the difference in taste and overall quality compared to the cheaper synthetic foods.
