Blue Fin Fish
Forum: Realms Of Black Lake - Blue fin fish are common along the coastlines of the southern realms. They average two feet in length when fully grown, have several wide blue stripes down their dorsal fin, no teeth, and are very rounded in their white-bellied blue body.
The unusually slimey coating that covers the bodies of these fish can be used to treat the soles of shoes and boots, rubbing it into them until it is completely absorbed. This softens the footwear's soles so they make less noise on hard surfaces.
They also make a good meal as they are very meaty, and practically boneless, but for a few short thin ribs along their oddly thin backbone. Unlike many fish, the meat does not have that over-powering fishy taste to it, nor the pugent smell when being cooked, making it a favored meal among many.
The eggs of this fish are often cut from the belly, then slow fried in a bit of butter with a few spices as a garnish. The tangy paste is also used for spreading on bread or rolls in place of butter or jellies.
